If you are struggling financially and are unable to provide a birthday cake for your child’s birthday, our volunteers would like to help, free of charge. Our purpose is to get birthday cakes to kids whose families would otherwise be unable to buy or make one for them. We are excited to offer this initiative to the Columbus, Ohio area – making kids’ birthday celebrations a little more special!
Once the form below is completed, a volunteer will sign up to bake/buy and deliver a cake/cupcakes after communicating with you about your preferences indicated in the request form. If for any reason we are unable to match you to a volunteer, we will inform you in advance of your celebration date and provide the following alternative options:
a) A cake/cupcakes may be ordered to a Walmart of your choice for you to pick up.
b) A cake/cupcakes may be ordered for delivery through DoorDash. Cake/cupcakes will be the flavors requested, but we are unable to customize the colors, theme, or writing.
Volunteers are community members donating their time and money to help make your celebration special. Many volunteers are home bakers, not professionals. Cakes may be homemade or storebought.
A volunteer will reach out to you once a match is made; please help us respect their time and other commitments by responding within 48 hours of initial outreach. If the volunteer receives no response in this time period, they may be matched to another request and your request cancelled. Our terms of service are to ensure the comfort and safety of all people involved in a request and delivery. Before requesting a cake, you must review the terms below:
- Cakes/cupcakes are available for children turning 1-18 years old.
- There is a 16 serving maximum for cakes and a 24 serving maximum for cupcakes. We accept one request per child annually.
- Cakes/cupcake requests must be submitted at least 10 days in advance. No exceptions. Out of fairness to our volunteers and other recipients, if a request is submitted less than 10 days in advance it will not be fulfilled.
- Please be sure to indicate if your child has any food allergies. Although we take every precaution to prepare your food safely and avoid cross-contamination, Columbus Cake Celebrations’ cakes are made in environments where milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, chocolate, soy, sesame, wheat, and gluten products are used. *We have a small amount of volunteers able to prepare completely allergy-friendly cakes. Please indicate if your child has a severe allergy and we will do our best to find an available match.
- If you require any changes to your cake or delivery, please reach out to the board directly by email. Volunteers are not responsible for accommodating any changes in requests.
- The personal privacy of Columbus Cake Celebrations’ recipients is of the utmost importance to us. All the information provided with regard to requesting cakes or corresponding with Columbus Cake Celebrations and your volunteer will be used for these purposes only. We do not and will not sell or give your personal information to anyone for any reason.
- Per Section 2305.37 of the Ohio Revised Code, Columbus Cake Celebrations is not liable for any unintentional harm caused by persons in good faith donating cakes for distribution to individuals in need. More information…
- Columbus Cake Celebrations will not accept requests deemed inappropriate or offensive at the discretion of the Board members. You will be informed if such a situation occurs.
- Columbus Cake Celebrations reserves the right to cancel requests at the discretion of the Board members due to (but not limited to) concerns regarding lack of communication, volunteer safety, etc. Any such instance will be communicated to the requestor.
- If you would like to provide feedback on the cake/cupcakes you received, please contact columbuscakecelebrations@gmail.com. You may include a photo of the cake/cupcakes with your email, if applicable.
Violations of our terms of service could result in cancellation of the cake request and/or permanent disqualification from submitting future cake requests.
